How to apologize to your girlfriend over text

Verdict first

Own exactly what you did, skip the "but", and offer to talk in person. Text is for opening the door, not for having the whole fight again.

What a real apology sounds like

Name the specific thing, acknowledge how it landed for her, and don't explain it away:

I was out of line earlier. I snapped at you when you were just trying to help, and that wasn't fair. I'm sorry
You were right to be upset. I should have told you about the plans. Can we talk tonight?

What never to write

"Sorry you feel that way", "I'm sorry, but…", or a wall of text defending yourself. Those aren't apologies — they're round two.

Give her space

Send it and let her answer in her own time. Piling on follow-ups turns your apology into pressure.

Then talk in person

The real repair happens face to face. Listen more than you explain, and change the thing you apologized for — that's what makes the next apology unnecessary.

Verdict

Specific, no excuses — then show up in person.
